Marilyn Nonken

Tue 10/02  19.30
Sibelius Academy, Concert Hall

Marilyn Nonken, a leading US pianist of the young generation, has premiered numerous works by great composers. Liza Lim’s The Four Seasons, now to receive its world premiere, is a tribute to Cy Twombly’s painting at MoMa. Drew Baker’s premiere continues the abstract tradition of Feldman’s music. The pieces by Michael Finnissy, known for his transcriptions, afford a political perspective on the music of gershwin. The work by Jason Eckardt was partly influenced by the improvisations of
Cecil Taylor and the Downtown Scene.
